Axel Rudakubana, Islam & Rory Stewart Getting It Wrong Again
The Nicest Guy in the Culture Wars Can't Catch a Break
On the day of Trump’s inauguration…
Scrap that - on the day that child murderer Axel Rudakubana - pleaded guilty to one of the worst atrocities in living memory (stabbing several children, murdering three of them), the media is bending over backwards to make this about anything but Islam.
If you scroll through the main BBC report about the guilty plea, Islam is only mentioned once, in a segment clarifying that murderer Rudakubana had been referred many times to the counter-extremism scheme Prevent.
They wrote: “This was not because of worries about any particular ideology such as Islamism, or racial or religious hatred.”
For the same reason, it appears that they considered his guilty plea to possessing Jihadi and Al-Qaeda training material only relevant enough for a brief mention at the bottom of the list of charges. Journalists are taught to put the essential information first. This is not done by accident. Their editorial decided “possession of a knife” was more serious and relevant to this abominable crime than this monster’s Jihadi training.
That this court date was booked on the day of Trump’s inauguration feels like an implausibly stunning coincidence, given that Elon Musk and the American social media sphere have taken a keen interest in the way that Starmer and the powers that be - the mainstream media included - have lied and covered up this case.
A good day to bury bad news - so let us ensure this is not forgotten.
Remind the media that they had been using this cherubic photo of the suspect at 13 years old:
Rather than something more recent, such as this mugshot:
To many, this is evidence of either an anti-Western agenda or cowardice and wishful thinking on behalf of the useful idiots of legacy media. This leads me to Rory Stewart. Rory is a very nice and intelligent man with experience not only within this nation but outside of it, having walked across many parts of the Middle East.
This makes it all the more infuriating that he is so out of touch with the voting public and what is happening to the West. Recently, he infamously told his many listeners that he was convinced Trump would lose the election.
Today—on the day of Trump’s inauguration and the day of Axel Rudakubana’s charges—his popular ‘centrist’ podcast with Alastair Campbell released a clip in which he rightly bemoans the personal attacks made upon him by his political adversaries and then makes a mess of his characterisation of the anti-woke.
I agree wholeheartedly with the first part. Only a deep sadness or lack of conviction in one’s argument can compel a serious person to hurl personal insults. Where I disagree with Rory is in the utter madness he conjures in the next part of the clip:
He says:
There is an unbelievably unpleasant undercurrent here which goes well beyond their views on wokery […]. How do you fight back and win, and still say “Actually we do believe humans are equal in rights or dignity. We’re not going to support the idea that British nationals who are Muslims are going to be expelled […].
These people may begin by sounding like they’re just grumbling about Muslims, but their views on women will be unprintable, their views on gay people will be unprintable.
Here is my retort:
It is concerning but perhaps indicative of his mainstream background that Rory’s concept of morality and good derives from whether the mainstream media consider it ‘printable’.
His argument conflates equal rights for people regardless of immutable features (a good thing) with equal treatment of people who harbour harmful ideologies (a bad thing). The second ‘thing’ is equity, not equality. Muslim British nationals should not be deported. I’ve rarely come across anyone who argues that they should be. However, we need to realise that some core tenets of the ideology do not fit with Western values, and this has to come into the equation when considering who we bring into the country.
His lament about anti-woke people being against gays and women is an utter perversion of truth.
It is a prime example of polarisation bias, where somebody is so far Left or Right that they only engage with content either in their sphere or on the other side so that they miss the nuance in the middle.
This is indoctrination to a cultish degree. If he had any sense, he’d realise that he is, in one breath, dismissing the anti-woke concern about Islamism while claiming that those pushing back against Islam’s most brutal beliefs (about gays and women) are the ones who hate gays and women.
Of course, there will be figures who are both anti-woke and fiercely conservative, such as some evangelical Christians, Hasidic Jews or…Muslims (whisper it quietly, Rory!). But the UK’s most popular anti-woke channel, GB News, grew off the back of its figurehead, Andrew Doyle, who is not only gay but vehemently Left Wing. He is far from the only gay GB News hosts - and most of their journalists have been fighting Islamism and trans lunacy for women since the channel’s inception.
For this reason, I responded to Rory by asking him to name some of these figures at the heart of the anti-woke movement with such views about gays and women.
Here was his response:
